Journal Writing

There is an art to journaling. Some people have food and weight loss journals, dream journals, and travel journals. I invest in a journal that I treat like a psychologist. My journals have been very imporant to my mental health, since I was a kid. When I felt like there was no one to speak to, or no one who would help me to solve my problems, I would go to my books and just spill out my emotions onto the page. I went from basic printing to writing in script as I got older. I thought it would be harder for people to read it that way (lol). By no means if you are having a drastic mental health issue, should you just keep a journal, but you can keep a journal while speaking to a trained professional about your issues. I've accumulated a number of journals, and once in a while I like to read my old journal entries. At times they are hearbreaking, and at other times they are filled with so much joy. The point is, I'm able to see my growth in detail, something that a photograph could never accomplish. My journals are so dear to me, I might request for them to be burned once I'm no longer living. Here are a few benefits of journal writing:

- A chance to view your choices objectively

- A record of your emotional health and what situations may be causing you stress

- Writing down a plan for reaching goals

- Measuring personal growth

- Stress relief/ feelings of pressure being released

- Keeping your word

- Accepting your flaws and your unique personality

- Writing down the details of events that changed your life

- Become a more observant person who pays attention to details

- Helps you to trust that little voice inside

I will always be an advocate for writing things down. Peace!
