Relieving Adult Acne with Oil Cleansing
Still getting acne? I know that it can be a bummer, but don't stress as that can cause the situation to get even worse. Find some relief without the hazardous chemicals and drugs that cause more harm than good. At times I do forget the holistic things that work for my skin and that cause it to go haywire. The simple oil cleansing method is quick and extremely efficient on all skin types, especially oily, acne prone skin.
The main ingredient should be castor oil. Some people use a mixture of 25% or 50% compared to their other oil/oils of choice. I prefer to use 50% for the optimal cleansing and softening effects of the castor oil. Castor oil supplies healthy fatty acids that can deep cleanse the oil on the skin that cause whiteheads and blackheads. Castor oil is also antifungal, helps in fading scars (fast), antimicrobial, softens wrinkles and facial lines, helps sunburn and itch, and is an efficient moisturizer.
My other oil of choice is Grapeseed oil, which is the other 50% of the mixture. Grapeseed oil is light and great for my extremely oily skin. Grapeseed oil has antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory which is great for acne prone skin. The linoleic acid keeps skin firm and smooth as well as the astringent properties in this oil, and just like castor oil it fights signs of aging and can help those under eye circles that so many of us have.
The mixture is applied to the face (once or twice a day), making sure to massage the skin thorougly while relaxing and making sure no parts of the face are tensed. Next a clean washcloth is drenched in warm to hot water (not too hot) then wrung out and placed over face until cool. This can be repeated a few times until you are ready to wipe off the excess oil with the same washcloth.
The hot water activates the oils and allows it to be absorbed into the skin and perform its magic. After I wipe my face I usually rinse it again with warm water and then cold. My face is supple and smooth and there is no need for me to use extra moisturizer, especially in the summer months. The trick is to find out what natural oils work for your skin in order for you to combine it with the castor oil. From coconut to jojoba, there are so many to choose from and some people even use castor oil alone. Find your formula and prepare for great, glowing skin.
