Simple Skincare: Oil Cleansing Method (Grapeseed Oil)

I have an appreciation for all methods of the most natural skincare, from cleansing the skin with the consumption of more raw foods and water, to using plant based formulas and clays on the skin. My oily acne-prone skin reacts well to changing my regimens on a seasonal basis. The environment can really factor in how your skin reacts even to the most natural treatments. I've used the oil cleansing method off and on for years. As soon as I would use it, my skin would give me an immediate reaction either it be good or bad. It really depended on what oil I chose to use. After raw honey cleansing for half of the year, I've switched back to oil cleansing with grapeseed oil. Grapeseed oil reacts very well with my skin type and leaves it feeling comfortable and fresh. Grapeseed oil contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, along with linoleic acid which are especially good for acne prone skin. The astringent properties in grapeseed oil, tighten the skin and close pores, preventing clogging that can lead to more pimples. Dark circles are also healed with the use of grapeseed oil applied underneath the eye on a consistent basis. The light moisturizing of grapeseed oil is great for sensitive and oily skin types. Fine lines and wrinkles are diminished, and elasticity returned when using grapeseed oil as a cleanser or moisturizer. Here is the simple way I use grapeseed oil to cleanse my face:

Grapeseed OCM

Massage a quarter sized amount of oil onto face and neck

Rinse face with warm to hot water (as hot as you can take it)

Use facial steamer (optional)

Take a clean washcloth (I prefer white) and wipe excess oil off of face and neck

Use a toner such as a plant based hydrosol or witch hazel and apply with cotton ball

You can add more grapeseed oil to skin if it feels dry but my skin is usually moisturized enough.

You can do this 1-2 times daily.
