Golden Milk

Turmeric is a powerful ayurvedic remedy for the many things that ail us. Adding turmeric powder or the root to some coconut or almond milk makes a delicious treat that helps fight colds, flu, depression, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, and not to mention it provides a beautiful glow to the skin. These are only some of the things that turmeric helps with. This milk is a spicy, warm, nutrient dense drink that can be a substitute for coffee and tea, and even a meal. Yes it's that filling! Turmeric is a part of the ginger family and has been used in Asian cultures for many years. It is also the main spice in curry, hence the hard to remove yellow stains that it leaves behind (lol). Here is a recipe below for this nutritious, delicious drink:

Golden Milk Recipe:

2 cups of coconut or almond milk

1 teaspoon or turmeric powder

or

one small piece of turmeric root sliced or smashed

1 small piece of ginger sliced

1/2 a teaspoon of black pepper

1/2 a teaspoon of cardamon

1 teaspoon of coconut oil

Honey (to taste)

Combine milk and ginger in a pot and warm it on a low fire

Add turmeric powder or root and mix until golden

Add spices such as black pepper and cardamon

Add coconut oil and mix

Lastly add the honey, sip and enjoy!
